Maillardville is a community on the south slope of the city of Coquitlam. The History of this area dates back to the early 1900's and Fraser Mills, a lumber mill on the north bank of the Fraser River. A town of originally 20 houses, a post office, hospitla, office block, barber shop and a pool hall. With rapid grouth at the mill and the recruitmnet of over 100 French Canadian mill workers from Quebec, Maillardville was born. Named for Fater Edmond Maillard, a young Oblate from France.

Maillardville is home to a number of commercial areas and the most famous – Coquitlam VIP Cinemas and IKEA. Do some local furniture shopping along United Boulevard, or do weekend grocery shopping at The Real Canadian Superstore.
